BBEC Adopts a Chef for the day

On Tuesday 16th June Batley Business & Enterprise College were honoured to have as our “Adopt a Chef for the day” James Holden who, during his career has trained at the Savoy in London and cooked for Royalty (Prince Charles.)

We won the prize of Adopting a Chef for the day through the Food for life partnership, this new initiative was to increase our uptake on school meals.

Also on the day we had working with the students the owner and chef from the Spiced Pear at Hepworth.

Both Gentlemen with their wealth of knowledge and expertise engaged with our learners who helped them prepare lunch.

14 students in Year 8 and 9 were chosen to become chefs for the day and assist our two celebrities.

The menu consisted of grilled spicy chicken with a mango and mint salsa, baked sweet corn and chilli sweet potato wedges, topped off with a maltesers cheese cake for desert.

Mrs Goldthorpe Food Technology Teacher said “ The students excelled themselves showing the chefs their culinary skills and won over their audience of students who eagerly bought the food.”
