Food Bank - Fund Raising

Fund raising at Batley Business & Enterprise College

The Students at BBEC have been collecting food for the local community in Batley, over the last few weeks the boys have been collecting money and tins of food for the Batley Food Bank.

New Headteacher Sam Vickers said ' We see our school as being a key part of our local community and we want to work together to help everyone within our community, in particular those who may be less fortunate than ourselves. Our boys have worked hard to collect tins and money to support local families.'

The Students have raised £130 which they spent on toiletries and collected 550 tins of food.

The Student Council at BBEC decided to choose the Food Bank as their charity and will continue to support them throughout the year.

Also some of our Year 10 Students have been busy making and selling Christmas Decorations Mrs Jeanette Dent our Forest School Leader who helped run the stalls with the Students said “They had a taste of running their own market stall. All decisions from what to make, how much to sell it for were taken by the pupils.  The money raised is going to help a school in India which provides support for children who have lost their sight”.
