BBC selects Upper Batley High School

Our team of budding journalists have been working hard on their entry to this year's BBC School News Report. As a result of this hard work and dedication they were selected by the BBC to visit the studios in Leeds and appear on the Look North programme with Harry Gration on the red sofa. Our boys were fortunate to receive a full tour of the studios, receive great careers advice from the BBC team, present the weather, meet the lunch and evening team and see the whole behind the scenes production. The boys were able to present the lunchtime edition of Look North themselves and use the cameras etc.

They were then interviewed by Harry Gration himself during the evening programme. Wow what a day and well done to Mrs Roy and Mr Smith for all of their hard work over the past few weeks. The team were even able to take part in the staff debrief after the programme. What an amazing day!

The journalist team have been working on the news piece they produced last year with Jo Cox, MP and this year they interviewed Jo's family about how they are continuing the legacy of Jo's work. The full programme can be viewed on our school website.
