This week we were delighted to welcome Gary Neville, one of England’s most decorated players, to our school. Gary is a hugely successful footballer with 85 caps playing for England and he was Manchester United’s captain for five years. Gary is well known for his high work rate, professionalism, determination, team work and consistency and these were the key messages he discussed with boys at Upper Batley High School. Gary visited our school as part of our high achieving Going for Gold campaign where we stretch and challenge all boys to be the best that they can be and achieve their goals in all areas of school life.
We are absolutely thrilled that Gary Neville chose to visit our school to support our high achievement initiative. It was a wonderful opportunity for learners (and staff) to meet a football legend and see how successful individual people can be when they work hard to achieve their goals. Our school’s achievements have been recognised nationally and we have achieved the accolade of being a ‘Beacon of Success’ school in the North of England due to our progress and high achievement. Gary spoke to our boys, answered questions, signed autographs and posed for photographs. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the success of our boys.
