PHSCE at UBHS
PHSCE is delivered in a variety of ways here at UBHS. In Key Stage 3 (Year 7 and Year 8) it forms part of RE and In Year 9 it is taught through Business Studies.
The subject covers a wide range of topics from:
- Rights and Responsibilities
- Drugs Education
- Emotional and Physical Health
- Exploring our place in the local and global communities
- Work Experience (Year 10)
We also have one alternative curriculum day (AC Day) each term to target specific year groups and develop their PHSCE skills in a fun and engaging way. AC Day sessions cover: internet safety, sex education, team-work, STEM, etc.
PHSCE is a broad subject which equips the boys here at UBHS with the tools to deal with any of life’s challenges now and in the future.
At UBHS we ensure that all students are offered appropriate careers advice and guidance via our CEIAG provision and the college was awarded the C&K Careers Quality Standard in 2014. Careers information is available to all students. In Year 7 and Year 8 this is delivered via the Aspire tutor time programme. We have a careers library where a Specialist Careers Advisor works with students to inform and guide them on their career choices.
